Such a Sweetie!

Yesterday I watched a friend's child while she was out and about. Her son is two and has autism. He was asleep when he got here and slept for the first hour. Every once in awhile he would cough in his sleep and Libby would go over to him and say, "K? K?" It was so cute. When he did wake up, he was very scared. I held him for about half an hour while Libby showered him with kisses and patted his back. He finally fell back to sleep so I laid him in Libby's crib. He woke up and cried for about a minute more. Libby immediately ran out to the living room and grabbed her pink blanket and pushed it into the crib with him. I almost cried. That blanket is her most prized posession and she was willing to give it to a little boy she'd never met before just because he was upset. I thank the Lord that my little girl has such a big heart!

Can't Find Your Keys?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It seemed like Libby had a great time in the nursery on Sunday. She didn't fuss once when we dropped her off and she came running right over when we picked her up. We put her coat on her and turned to leave. About that time she said, "KEYS" and started shaking some keys around in the air. OOPS! Somehow she stole the nursery keys. I was glad that she said it when she did. We would have had no clue if she had waited to say something. Silly girl!

Church Search

Well, we visited Hope Evangelical Free Church this past Sunday. We think that we will try them out again. So...maybe we will have ourselves a winner! We aren't 100% sure, but we are 90% sure that this is where we want to park our family for church. They don't have "Sunday School", but they do have "classes" that go over different books. Basically, every time they change Bible studies, you choose a new one, so you aren't always with the same people. They are half way through this set so we will probably wait until the next set to start the classes. I am glad that we have found somewhere that we can go for a second visit. :)

Coffee, Anyone?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We got some friendly advice the other day. The advice was that we needed to stop giving Libby coffee. I couldn't help but chuckle because I know how much Libby loves her lukewarm cup of joe. Unfortunately, she is very rarely given the chance to partake of such a lovely liquid. She has only had coffee a handful of times and she has also shared a chai with me on occasion. I figure as long as I'm not giving her coffee every day, she'll be alright. Maybe I'm a warped mom, but I guess I would rather let her indulge once in awhile.

The Game of Pretend

Libby has gotten into the habit that every night when we say that it is "night night" time she plays a little game. She runs into our room (which we share with her) and jumps on our bed(which is a mattress on the floor) and lays on daddy's pillow and says, "Night, night," and then fake snores. It is so cute. I don't know where she picked it up from but she enjoys teasing us.

Up, Up and Away

Too cute! I wish I would have had my camera with me the other night at the mall. Libby has discovered the joy of escalators. Whenever we see one, we have to find a place to ditch the stroller and TAKE A RIDE! At the mall, they have a set that the up and down escalators are right next to each other. So, she took her daddy's hand and marched up the escalator and then back down and then back up and then back down and then back up and then back down. I think she would have kept going all night long if we would have let her. Three rides was enough though. She didn't like that answer, but she got over it. I'm glad that the mall is 5 minutes from our house...easy entertainment close at hand!

Potty Time

We bought Libby a new potty yesterday. We figure for now she can just get used to sitting on it. She does pretty well as long as her pants are on. She wasn't too keen on it this morning with her bare bottom end though.
She has to explore anything new, so here she is checking out what is inside of this new "toy".
And well, it's portable...so we are going to have to watch her when she is really using this thing. I don't want her sloshing it's contents all over the place so she can let me know that she's been a good girl again! Posted by Picasa

Bath Time

Libby enjoys bath time so much! She is even learning to splash water in her face. She doesn't mind it when she does it, but when mommy does it...WATCH OUT! I'm so glad she enjoys her baths, it makes it easier on mommy and daddy. Just ask daddy. The other night Libby evidently wasn't feeling well, but she didn't know. She threw up and kept on running. So daddy put her in the tub and she played and splashed and threw up again and kept on splashing. Crazy kid! It's nice to know that sometimes things are harder on mom and dad than they are on her though.

And Now We Know Why...

...Libby doesn't have a pet yet. Ouch! She hung her kitty. Actually she tried to pull it through the bars on her crib. The kitty cat's head is just TOO big!
Now she is just flushing her kitty down the toilet. I suppose if she has to learn to use the potty then the kitty does too.
Overall, though...she loves her kitty. She spueezes him and carries it ALL over the house! She'll get a real kitty...soon hopefully! Posted by Picasa

Ouch!

I had the chance to meet my sister in Indiana last weekend. Chris is SUCH a wonderful husband! He gave me the opportunity to go alone and be away from Libby for my sanity's sake. Half way there I got rear ended. OUCH! I wasn't hurt, but I did spend about an hour in the rain. Chris wanted to come make sure that the car was ok. So, I had to wait for him at a truck stop. I had entertainment though...there were about 50 middle school kids there. Wow! I am so glad I'm not in middle school anymore. Anyway, it turned a 6 hour trip into a 10 hour trip. I'm just glad that it wasn't MY fault. Chris and Libby spent the night in Indiana and then headed home. Libby was a trooper! Steph and I did have a relaxing weekend. I thank God for blessing me with my family...ALL of them!

Our New Pet

The other night Libby found a new pet for us. She brought a fuzz bunny to me and said, "Kitty, kitty, meow, meow." It was so gross, but so cute too. I assume that she thought the fuzzy was soft like a kitty. Unfortunately, we had to dispose of Libby's new pet. Once we get a house, we can get her a real kitty, but for now...we'll just have to settle for our stuffed animals.

18-Month Check Up

Well, Libby had her 18-month check up today. She was 33 inches long (70th percentile) and 21 pounds (10th percentile). She has gained half a pound in the past month though. That is GREAT for Libby. The nurse practitioner said that Libby was right on schedule, if not ahead, developmentally. We truly miss Dr. Hutchison, but we're glad to know that Libby is still doing well.

New Utensils

Today Chris, Libby and I went to Hardee's for lunch. Chris ordered a hamburger and it came with a toothpick to hold it together. He was putting bite size chunks of hamburger down for Libby to eat when she grabbed the toothpick. She proceeded to poke a hamburger chunk and put it in her mouth with the toothpick. She did this until she was done eating. If only we knew it was that easy to get her to eat! I know what I'm buying at the store next time I go. :) Posted by Picasa

Razzmatazz

Libby loves going to Razzmatazz. Razzmatazz is kind of along the same lines as Kindermusik, but instead of structure, we just play with whatever floats our boat. We start off with one item and when we get bored with that, we move on to the next. Today we read a few books, played with balloons, played hide and seek, played the piano, played the drums and danced to some music. It was a blast! It's at a really good price too! I am so glad we ran into the program. Libby loves it too! Posted by Picasa

Learning to Read

Libby read her first book today. She has a book called " Fuzzytail Lamb" that I read to her today. After I finished, I got up to continue cleaning the house and I heard her saying, " Baa. Baa. Baa." I took a peek in the kitchen to see what was going on and she was flipping the pages every time she said baa.

* I know. This is a goat, not a sheep. This was a picture from when we went to the zoo this summer. I figured it would be ok to use it because Libby was in the picture. :) Posted by Picasa

Bedtime Snacks and Cell Phones

It has been so fun watching Libby grow and learn. It is impossible to think that just 1 1/2 years ago she was TOTALLY helpless. Now, she is assertive and can tell you what she wants...most of the time. Last night she let us know what she wanted. We were getting ready for bed and she brought her Cheerios (or Chee-o's) into the bedroom. Daddy took them from her and told her it was time to get ready for bed. That didn't bother her and we spent the next 15 minutes or so doing our bedtime routine. Then daddy put Libby in her crib and went to turn off the light. Before he got the chance she had popped up, said, "Chee-o," and had them in her little hands again. We both laughed and daddy fed her a few before we said good night one last time.

Then, daddy left his work cell phone at home today. He called to see if I could meet him for lunch so I could bring it to him. I knew I would forget the phone if I didn't have it attached to me so that's exactly what I did. I clipped it to my pants. All of the sudden Libby started throwing a fit. I couldn't figure it out until she started tugging on the phone and saying, "Daddy, daddy, daddy!" She was mad at me for wearing daddy's phone. She stayed mad at me until I gave it to daddy too.

Isn't it amazing what their little minds can remember and learn and how it stretches and grows? Wow! I am glad God blessed me enough to watch this phenomenon called "growing up".
