Happy Birthday to Libby! (day 3)

Today was the last day of celebrations. We have been planning this one for a long time! Libby and mommy both donated our hair in memory of Melissa Clendenin. Grace and grandma went with us to make it a complete girl's day out.

Ear Piercing Fun

I couldn't have asked for a better person to do Libby's ears!  The gal did a spectacular job at explaining to Libby what was going to happen and keeping her calm the entire time.

Here she is trying to mark Libby's ears and make sure they are nice and even.

Here is the teddy bear that Libby got to hold just in case she needed to squeeze tight during the process.

This is the face Libby gave as the ear ring went into her ear.  That was the extent of it.

Last, but not least, here is one cool, last day of being six, happy girl!

Happy Birthday to Libby! (day 2)

On Monday we celebrated at Chuck E. Cheese. What adult kid doesn't enjoy Chuck E. Cheese?

Then, we decided to go ahead and get Libby's ears pierced a bit early. I figured that there would be less anticipation and worry for her this way.

Happy Birthday to Libby!

My beautiful daughter thought that she needed to turn seven on me.  I disagree, but she would have nothing to do with staying six.  So, we had a birthday week!

On Saturday we ate a yummy cake that was decorated with all sorts of fun colors.

John Vs. Ollie

Yes, folks, my son is all boy! This is one of the many activites he uses to fill his spare time...the other activities? Well, they are very similar. (Except when he wants his finger nails painted just like his sisters.)

What Did I Just Say About Color?

Yes, it is true, I do love to play with colors.  Eventually all of these fun colors will turn into a quilt.  Maybe, if you're lucky, I'll even blog the saga from beginning to end...it might take 20 years, but we'll see.  ;)

As Promised...

more painting pictures...with Libby included this time.

The girls chose to paint rocks this time.  I have a fun post on my pinterest account about painting rocks, so I thought it could be fun.

Momma just loves to play with the colors!

Nature Notebook

Can I just admit it?  I just have to get it off of my chest...I don't like doing nature study during winter...so I don't usually.  There, I told the truth.  That being said, it isn't winter anymore.  So, hello nature study!  Today in science Libby learned about stems, including woody stems (a.k.a. tree trunks).

Chris has cleaned our woods out nicely, which means that there are a few stumps out there.  Between that and the nice weather we decided to get some nature study in.  I grabbed Libby's nature notebook and off we went.  On the way to the tree trunk we passed a tree that has some of the roots exposed.  How convenient!  We just studied roots last week.  So, Libby plopped down and observed some taproots.

Then on to the tree stump.  We counted the rings together and the tree was 38 years old.  That means it is at least a year older than daddy.  ;)

Just a fun picture of the girls in the lovely green grass.

Last, but not least...proof that spring really is here.  How refreshing!!!
