Two Year Old Logic

I just love watching as Libby learns to use her head to figure things out. It is so fun to encourage her, but not give her the answers. The other day we went to a friend's house to see his basement. He's been working on it for awhile and it looks awesome now that he's almost finished. Anyway, they have a walkout basement and Libby had been going in and out the back door to see the kitty and the doggy. She finally decided she was finished with the back door and was going to look for the front door. She walked to the front of the basement (which is storage) and looked around and then came back and got me. For the next 5 minutes she took me by the hand and we walked in and out of the storage room with her looking at me with a confused look saying, "Front door?" And I'd ask where it was and she'd say, "Ummm..." and then walk back into the front room and back again. All of a sudden she looks at me with a big smile and says, "Upstairs, come on front door!" I love seeing that light bulb turn on. It's great!

16 Week Appointment

Not much to report. I did hear the baby's heartbeat though. I also turned down the AFP test which is suppose to let you know if there is a chance of Spina Bifida or Downs Sydrome. We're having the baby whether it's "normal" or not so why spend the extra money? I set up the next appointment as well...ultrasound included. So, I SHOULD (as long as the baby cooperates) be able to report whether I have a little boy or a little girl wiggling around next time. Yea!

The NEW Lipstick

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This week is our church's VBS. I am helping with the 4 and 5 year olds. They have been great, but getting there a little early with a two year old has been interesting. Yesterday I was in our room doing a few things before we left for the day when Libby came running up to me and said, "Lips, mommy, lips." I turned around to look and she was standing there with a glue stick in her hand and a small glob on her lips. I tried to convince her that it wasn't lipstick, but she wasn't so sure about that.

For Ang!

I got an email from a my friend Angie the other day and she asked whether Libby EVER wore clothes. So I went to Libby's bedroom and put some on her (her choice of course) just so I could take a picture. :D In answer to Angie's question...in the summer, as long as we are home, no, I usually don't make her wear clothes. If we are leaving the house, well that's another story.

Another Episode

I just HAD to try one more time with this shirt.

Me: Grandma REALLY wants to see you in this shirt. Will you wear it for grandma?

Libby: No, different shirt.

Me: Not even for grandma?

Libby: No, different shirt.

No such luck this time either. Hopefully the next kiddo will like it!

Monster Mommy

Last night, after the in-laws left for their hotel, I was SO tired. So at about 10 'til 9 I kissed Libby good night and told her I was going to bed. About 15 minutes later Chris put Libby to bed and she was NOT happy at all. We just figured that she was upset because she was playing with all of her new puzzles that grandma brought her. Well, 10 minutes later, she was still crying like crazy so Chris decided to check on her. He went back and said, "What's your problem?" My little Libby says through her tears, "I just want to kiss mommy!" So Chris brought her out and I gave her a kiss. Daddy asked her if she was ready for bed and she said she was. He took her back to her crib and she was finished for the night...all she wanted was to kiss her mommy. Yeah, that made me feel like a great mom, she thought I'd abandoned her or something. It made me feel warm and fuzzy though too. She couldn't sleep with out a good night kiss from me.

Oh my gosh!

My in-laws (including Chris's aunt and cousin) are in town for the weekend. So, we were driving them around showing them all of the BIG equipment that they make there at John Deere when all of the sudden Libby, who had been jibber jabbering all night long, said, "Oh my gosh!" We all started laughing. Libby just looked at us like we were all crazy.

Mommy...HELP!!!

I'm sitting out in the living room and I hear Libby screaming in another room. I ignore it because daddy is a big boy and he can handle it. Then I hear him calling me. I'm thinking, "Seriously, you can't handle her?" I get up and go back to her room and this is what I find. She has knocked her little ladder over and is...well, STUCK! So of course, being the good parent I am, I ran to grab the camera. I wonder when she'll try to climb up the outside of her crib again.

Multiple Uses

Libby has been wanting me to put water in her potty bowl. I refuse to do it because that's just gross. She's only actually used it once and it was 6 months ago, but still...ew! Anyway, tonight she took things into her own hands. She took her bowl to the kitchen and put some cereal in there. Yummy!

Tug of War

Daddy and Libby got going in a healthy game of tug of war. It was quite cute as they looked like little doggies. Dadd obviously won that game. Don't worry, he let Libby win some too.

Nice Dress

I thought I would try to wear dresses for a whole week (per my 101 in 1001 list), but I found out I was a little too pregnant to do so at the moment. Well, the dress I was going to wear on this particular day had a jacket to go with it. Libby was glad I couldn't wear the dress because she wanted to wear it as her own dress. She has worn it at least 15 minutes every day this week.

Yummy Faces

Awhile back I posted about sharing graham crackers and chocolate icing with Libby for the first time. Here are a few pictures of her pretty little face.

Karen Kingsbury

Ok, so when I joined Alexis's book reading challenge I forgot to post it so that any of my reader's could join. Basically it's a challenge to read more...no prizes, no competition, just some good old reading. Go to her site and find her post for the summer reading challenge (or just comment mine) and let Alexis know how many books you think you would like to read between now and Labor Day. Then post the challenge on your site (like I forgot to do) and then update us every so often, through posts, on your progress.

Anyway, I committed to ten books (I could probably do more, but I thought I should be a parent at some point too) and have now finished two. I read "A Thousand Tomorrows" and "One Tuesday Morning" both by Karen Kingsbury. She has a way of bringing out the emotions in her readers, but overall, she isn't my favorite author of all time. I liked "A Thousand Tomorrows" more than "One Tuesday Morning". I guess she just has some quirks that annoy me. I would still like to finish her Redemption series though.

I think I'm going to read a couple of books that will help me learn a little about "real" life next. I have a Ted Dekker and Gilbert Morris book on deck too. I KNOW I like these authors. Two down...eight to go. (Or more like two and a half down...:D)

PIZZA NUT???!!!

After a long day at work, and enduring my 6 month dental cleaning (with no cavities!)...Liza wasn't sure what to have for supper. I suggested a few things...and after shooting them all down, she said that she was in the mood for pizza. Being dinero challenged, I suggested that we throw in a frozen pizza...and knowing my wife the way I do...I could read her face immediately, and knew that she wasn't enthused. She wanted PIZZA HUT. SO, reading her mind, I said, "I see how you are...you just want PIZZA HUT!!!" Libby's face brightened up all excited, and she screamed out "PIZZA NUT, PIZZA NUT!!!" I have been working 60 to 70 hrs. a week for quite some time just to make ends meet...and little events like this remind me what's truly important in life...being with your wife & children. I can't imagine how many little events like this I've missed out on...but I am going to do my best to be at home a little more often...

Good News!

I had two great things happen this past weekend.

First of all I got a call I had been waiting for for a week on Thursday. Sara called to let me know that Ruby had been born. She went in Wednesday night at 10:00 pm and had her by 6:00 am. She was 8 lbs. and 20 inches long. Yea!

Then my friends got here about 4:30 and we had a great weekend. Friday we went to Davenport. Shawna took me to David's Bridal so that I could see the two dresses (she's pretty sure which way she's leaning) that she's thinking about for her wedding. And then, she showed me the two dresses she is deciding between for the bridesmaids. It's a good thing that both looked good on me. She surprised me when we got there and asked me to be one of her bridesmaids! I thought she might be waiting to be here with me to ask me, but when she didn't ask Thursday I was UBER disappointed. I told Chris, after they went to the hotel, I thought if anyone would ask me to be in their wedding it would be her. I told him I was disappointed and that it was ok if she didn't, but I was really hoping she would. Yeah, as I'm telling him this and he's saying that maybe she just thinks I live to far away and trying to comfort me in my frustration HE KNOWS SHE'S GOING TO ASK THE NEXT MORNING! He couldn't very well ruin it for her, but I couldn't believe he just sat there and egged me on when I was upset. Men! :) I love him anyway!

Grandpa's Purse

First of all, grandpa could be grandpa OR grandma...who knows! Secondly, "grandpa's purse" would be their video camera. Lastly, "grandpa's purse" is TROUBLE! She pulled it over to the drawer so she could climb on it and get the pens out of the drawer. Grr! I saw her doing this and I said, "What are you doing?" She said, "Standing on grandpa's purse." So matter of factly. I asked a question, she answered it.

Yum Yum

The other day my friend, Karissa, and I were talking about how yummy frosting is and how we can just eat it straight out of the can and yada yada. Well, it sounded so good that when I got groceries yesterday I got some frosting and graham crackers. Today, I was checking out Linda's (in the side bar) blog and she had a post on their about Rocky Road Day (sorry, it's a few days over now). Anyway, she had some pictures up and they looked so good so I got that frosting and the graham crackers out and shared a yummy snack with Libby. It was Libby's first time and I just LOVE sharing firsts (especially yummy ones) with Libby. She enjoyed it, but not as much as her fruit snacks. I don't think she's got her mommy's chocolate tooth. That could be good. Anyway, I chased my snack down with water...that makes it a healthy snack, right?

Choices, Choices

Ok, let me start this off by saying that I have been dealing with an awful itchy rash on my ring finger...yeah, the one I wear my wedding band on. So, anyway, I took it (the wedding band) off the other day and laid it down. Well, awhile later I heard Chris say, "You better get that from her, she's trying to put it in the fan." I turned around and "that" was my ring. She had my ring in one hand and her purple triangle magnet in the other hand. I pried my ring out of her fingers and she was NOT very happy with me. Before she started throwing a full blown tantrum, I said to her, "Libby, you have a pretty purple triangle in your hand, doesn't that make you happy?" Chris was sitting on the couch busting up laughing at the oddity of the statement, but it worked. She looked down at her purple triangle, smiled and went off to play with it. Oh, the things that satisfy us when we are young!

Yea for Friends!

Only a few more days before my good friends, Shawna and April come to visit! YEA! I am SO looking forward to their visit. I make 100% sure to visit with Shawna on of my trips to Bellefontaine and I lost track of April, so I haven't had a chance to see her since graduation...in 2000. They will be here all weekend and are even planning a girl's day for us! Wait a minute...shouldn't I be the one doing the planning? Anyway, I am super excited and can't wait!

Cone Head

Ok! We can be such mean parents. Chirs wanted to make Libby a hat out of my bra. Libby thought it was funny...at first. She even gave me permission to take a picture. Then she was finished. She wanted it off! It looked so funny I just had to share.

Different Shirt

While we were in Bellefontaine Libby spilled chocolate milk down the front of her shirt. While we were at Wal-Mart mom suggested we buy her a new shirt. I was looking at the shirts under $3 and decided on this cute striped halter top. I pulled the tag off and put it on her and she threw a fit. Well, I had pulled the tag off so I had to buy it. We put a different top on her and I bought both. I figured it was just the day. Then I put it on her yesterday morning again. Yeah, it wasn't the day! She doesn't like the shirt. As soon as I put it on her she started screaming, "Different shirt! Different shirt!" And, she pulled it down around her belly. I tried to take a picture because I thought it was funny. These two are the only ones I managed to squeeze off. She was so mad...you can see her pointing in one picture. She's pointing to her bedroom demanding that I change her shirt. It was so funny. I think I will save that shirt for the next kiddo...if it's a girl.

Just Like Daddy

Libby decided that she wanted to be just like her daddy. She took her pen and shoved it on her shirt. She was so proud that she looked like her daddy. She's such a daddy's girl.

Let's Go

My baby is still so small that she fits into her diaper bag. That's right, she just crawled right in and thought it was hilarious! As for the mustache...that would be lip gloss.
