Bed Time

By golly, do not try to tell Libby when to go to bed. She will kick and scream and tell you know. Just wait for about two minutes so that SHE can tell you that it is time to go to bed. This is what she did last night. It was actually quite comical. She announced that it was bed time (of course this is after her fit over the same issue a few minutes before) and went to daddy for his good night kiss. He held her on his lap for a few minutes and then she squirmed off and said, "Pinky and kitty go to bed." Then, she walked back to her bedroom, whether I was following or not...she really didn't care. I think she has had a long week and was just a tad bit tired. :) She would never do that on a daily basis.

EAA AirVenture 2007

Well, we are back from Oshkosh and had a great time! The weather was fickle, but never too far in one direction to ruin the day. We started out by going to the ultralight field where we did get rained out. By the time we got back to all of the main planes we had seen (and taken a picture of) a pretty rainbow and the rain had stopped. We got to see the inside of the C-5l, which is one the largest airplanes in the world. We also had the chance to see a U-2 spy plane. It started out by flying around 70,000 feet (13.25 miles) in the air and then circled down and landed for us to see. It was pretty cool! They also had some cool Ford's there on exhibit. We didn't take a picture, but they had a brand new prototype of a really cool car that is streamlined for the air to just slide right over the car. It looked pretty cool. I didn't realize how much I liked cars until the air show. How odd, right? Anyway, it was a really good day even with the rain showers that came and went. Libby was AMAZING! She was going on like one hour of sleep and only thre a few fits during the actual airshow. She loved watching the planes coming and going while we were on the move though. It was an awesome day!

Ultrasound Says...

Drumroll please...STUBBORN CHILD! Baby Tucker kept his/her legs crossed the entire time. The ultrasound tech said that if she had to guess she'd say girl because she thought she caught a glimpse of girl parts, but a guess was all it was. In other news, the ultrasound was helpful in telling us that the baby looks healthy, was (for that day) 11 ounces and that the due date won't change. As for the sex, well, I guess we'll just have to wait until December to find out for absolute sure! :)

Life

I'm sorry, I haven't been very faithful at blogging as of late. I guess I've been busy with the every day hum drum of life and not really had anything that has jumped out at me as being "blog worthy".

I have been getting ready for MOPS. I am SO excited about getting into the thick of things with MOPS. I have my first "official" meeting tomorrow and I am so ready for it.

I have also been trying to get Libby's homeschool curriculum together. They are simple and won't take a lot of time, but WILL get her used to a schedule of sorts. I am having a hard time putting the Bible part together so if any of you have any ideas, let me know. I think I'm almost ready to dive in and take this schooling thing by the horns.

As for now, I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. This one will include the ultrasound, so here's hoping that I'll have news on the sex of the baby tomorrow. Chris and I are also taking Libby to the Oshkosh Fly In. Chris has gone for the past 14 years, but this will be my first year. I think Libby will enjoy it alot, but if you could keep us in your prayers that would be great!

Well, I think that is all I have to report. Not too much exciting, but that's life at times.

All That Glitters

Ok, book #5 done in Alexis's challenge. Half way there. This book was written by Gilbert Morris, whom has always been one of my favorite authors, although I've never read a modern day book of his. I really enjoyed this, although for being fresh from Scotland Miss Afton knew quite a bit of her father's movie business. Oh well, you'll have that. A good mystery without being a mystery. I enjoyed it.

After Almost a Week

I think we might have the hang of this bed thing now. The night that I posted the good night we had an awful night. She cried for TWO HOURS (with us checking up on her once in awhile) before she finally fell asleep with daddy laying beside her. I was really worried about the next night, but I put her down and she was done for the night. Then she figured out that we leave the door cracked open so she could get out in the morning so the past two nights we have just had to deal with taking her BACK to her bed every time she decides that she wants to come see what we are up to. It only takes about 5 times and she stays though. I can deal with putting her back in bed. It's the tears that bother me. So...I think we are going to make it through this change too. How about that!

Poor Birdy

We had a bird that kept making a nest over our light on the back porch. Chris kept knocking it down into the lid of our recycling bin and the bird kept rebuilding. I finally convinced him to leave the poor thing alone so it could hatch it's egg. Well, the egg hatched and we had a baby birdy (and a mommy birdy that would squack up a storm and fly at you when you came out of the house). The other night we had a BIG storm and it was quite windy. The next morning I went outside to do something and the poor baby birdy (actually it looked more like a teenager) was lying tummy up in the water that had collected in the lid. :( I made Chris get rid of it before Libby saw it. He went ahead and took the nest down again. I don't think the birdy is going to be building it again though. How sad!

Bed Update

Well, yesterday we made Libby sleep in her room for her nap. I say room because she finally fell asleep by the door. I'm not sure how long she cried before she fell asleep because Chris and I were both so exhausted from the night before that we fell asleep while she was still crying. I think part of our problem was that we tried just the mattress on the floor so if she fell, she wouldn't fall far. We went ahead and moved the rest of the bed into her room before bedtime last night and she ended up on her bed for sleeping at least. We listened to her cry, "Mommy, like it bed. Daddy, like it bed," for 45 minutes, but it finally subsided. (Like it with a whine means don't like.) She slept until 6:15 this morning. Then her and daddy and mommy played until daddy had to go to work. Now that it's 8:00 she is TIRED and grouchy, but I think I'm going to have to deal with it for another hour or so because she is NOT going to go to bed at the moment. It was a successful night in my book though.

Flop on the Big Girl Bed

Yeah...not like a fun flop either. Yesterday we switched Libby's crib out for her big girl bed (which is a full size...I'd rather a twin, but you take what's available to you). So anyway, yeah, we tried for an hour last night to get her to stay in her big girl bed. A very FRUSTRATING hour! Then we gave in and she slept with mommy in mommy's bed while daddy resorted to the couch. Oh boy! This could be a fun transistion.

Learning Colors

I'm so proud of my daughter. She's really starting to learn her colors. We've been working on them awhile so it's fun to hear her get one out of every five or so colors right. Well, most of the time. It's a little embarrassing when you're walking through a store in the mall and all of the sudden she starts saying really loudly, "Mommy, black boobies...black boobies!" I look up and think she's talking about all of the bras that we are walking past, but Chris informs me that there is a girl in a black tank top a little bit ahead of us. She went on raving about the black boobies for about 3 to 4 minutes. Children and the things that come out of their mouths!

Who Am I?

Last year a lot of MOPS revolved around the nine things a mother NEEDS. As I was listening I thought that perspective was definitely the thing that I needed to work on and learn about the most. Well, I accepted a position as the hospitality coordinator on the steering team at the end of the year last year. Therefore I have been trying to do some studying and trying to get myself prepared for my position. Anyway, this past week, God did what he likes to do best and spoke to me about an area that I wasn't even examining. It just washed over me like a wave, although I have issues with perspective, identity is what I need help with right now. I realized that I have been basing my self worth as a person on what my daughter can do. When she learns something new I am a good mom and therefore a good person, but when she throws a tantrum I am a bad mom and therefore a bad person that can't do anything right. God helped me realize that I can't do that, it isn't fair to Libby or me. So my goal for right now is to come up with some goals for my life (as a follower of Christ, as a wife, as a mother) that are based upon my own ability and not based on how others are respond. I think this will help out greatly with some of my self-motivation issues. Isn't amazing how God works?

Bad Girl!

I wanted to take my camera with me to Indiana because I knew we would be going to Ohio to see my friends new baby, Ruby. Do you think I remembered it? Oh no! Sheesh! Not only did I miss out on pictures of Libby holding Ruby, we also went to Libby's first parade...with NO camera. Waaahhh! I'm such an unprepared person. I guess that's something I'll have to work on.

Anyway, the trip went well. We had a great time visiting with Jason, Sara and Ruby. I can't wait to see how much Ruby has grown when they come to visit us after our babydoll is born. We also got to visit with Jenny and Carter and that was nice as well. My parents came over on Friday and it was a great day. Libby had an absolute blast with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Hannah. On Saturday we spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa Tucker. We went to the parade in the morning. She was such a good girl and LOVED getting her candy. She was so generous with it and would share it with the kids around us. She got to see the ducks when we went to lunch on the lake. She enjoyed the ducks so much that she refused to eat. Then we got to go meet a family with 4 year old triplets. Talk about a blast. She had SO much fun! She loves other kids. Then that evening, grandpa took her on a plane ride. She's still talking about that. Sunday was church and back to reality. Of course Libby did so many things that I wanted to blog about that I can't remember now that I'm blogging. Isn't that the way life goes? She did enjoy helping grandma water the plants (as grandma and grandpa are living in our house at the moment). She also enjoyed going skinny dipping with grandma...no, grandma was NOT naked, ONLY Libby. :) She likes our pond (and our house) so much! I wish someone else did too. I would like to have my own house again. Anyway, that's a rabbit trail. We did have a GREAT trip though...even if I did forget the camera!

Naked Baby

I love my daughter. She likes to stay awake after we put her to bed and then call to us about half an hour later about something silly. The night before last it was the fact that she had dropped her little sheep on the floor and the world was about to end. It didn't matter that her bunny was still on the floor, only that her little sheep was on the floor. Don't forget the 5:30 am wake up call that same morning where she wanted her baby-mouth (pacifier). Mind you, she's been off of the thing for a year now. Last night took the cake though. She insisted that I put her clothes on right before bed. I told her she would just take them off later and she got mad at me...so I obliged her. Sure enough, half an hour later we got our call. Daddy went back and she was worried about that silly baby-mouth again. She also said, "Hot...shirt off." So daddy took it back off and went to leave. She got upset with him and started to cry, "No, hot...shirt off!" Chris turned around to see what she was talking about and she was holding up her baby doll. So, Chris went back and took the baby doll's clothes off too. That did the trick. She was ready to go to bed again. So, she slept with her naked baby doll last night.

1/2 Price Living

I told you that I was going to do some "self help" reading. Ellie Kay had a lot of tips on how to save money and make it on one income. I am sure that most of her ideas are good, but I'm going to have to read the book again for them to sink in. It's an easy read at least. Now I just have to learn to put some of this stuff in practice. :)

Heaven's Wager

Book number three in Alexis's book challenge is finished...so is number four, but I'll cover that in another post. I read Heaven's Wager by Ted Dekker. I really like Ted, although sometimes he loses his intensity. To write such an intense book though, I'm sure that it's virtually impossible to keep it up 100% of the time. This book was really cool because it was kind of a reverse Job story. I liked it because even though Kent chose to do the "wrong" thing, I can't say that I wouldn't have felt the same way in his situation. I don't know if I would have acted on my feelings, but I definitely would have felt the same way. I think the reason I like Ted so much is because there is no hiding God from the audience. God is definitely prominent in his books.
