Calling All Geek Squad Members
OK...these are her daddy's work glasses. He didn't start off with these geeky things, but when John Deere had their 60th anniversary they passed these out so that they could take pictures of how the workers used to wear to work. Well, Chris found out that these glasses are a LOT more useful than the other "cooler" looking ones because the mesh on the sides lets air in and out. So, he (and some others) opted to just keep these goofy things. Effective and nerdy is much better than cool and cloudy. :) So, Libby now likes to play with these goofy things. I can't wait until she gets a boyfriend. These pictures are SO coming out.
Good Book
Libby has learned to turn the pages of her favorite books all by herself. It's so fun to listen to her "read" the stories. It's interesting to find out what parts of the story she remembers and brings out.
Good Stuff
This is Libby's beautiful face (and her smile?) after that yummy ice cream last night. The picture WAS taken last night and then her face cleaned. I just didn't download the pictures until today.

Oh Baby, Baby
Soon after the cow comment Libby started jumping up and down and kicking her legs and jumping and just being a two year old. Then she started singing too. She was calling out, "Kick baby! Kick baby! Oh yeah, oh yeah! Oh baby yeah!" I don't know WHERE she got that from, but it was hilarious. I hope she doesn't want to be a cheer leader when she grows up. I could see it happening though.
Pretty Gal, Pretty Cow
Tonight we went to a local ice cream parlor because they were having their end of season buy one scoop, get second scoop free sale. We went outside to eat our ice cream and there were two older couples sitting across from us talking. After they left I said that one of the gal's looked kind of like Chris's grandma. He didn't hear me so I repeated that the GAL looked like his grandma. Libby looked at Chris and said, "Cow?"

Two in a Row
Libby has pooped in the potty two times in a row now. Yea! Kind of. Last night she started to grunt and daddy caught hold of her and rushed her to the potty. She made it in there and he made a big deal of what a good girl she was. Then today, I caught her grunting and did the same thing. She wasn't too happy about the whole matter to be honest. She screamed the whole way back, "NO POTTY! CHANGE DIAPER!" But we both made a big deal about how proud we were of her so after the fact I think she thought it was pretty cool. We'll see if she starts to catch on. She said she wanted big girl underwear, but then threw a fit when we were getting ready to leave for the store because she DIDN'T want big girl underwear. So, I am going to hold off on buying the undies until I know that we have at least 4 days that I will be home with her all day and can do this. We shall see. It may be a go and it may be that we pretend that we NEVER did this. :D

Fun with Finger Paint
We have delved into the new world of finger paint. With only one warning that she needed to use only ONE finger (NOT her WHOLE hand) we have done exceptionally well. So, we thought we would share our brand new experience with everyone. Mom directed Libby's hand on the dinosaur, but otherwise, this is ALL Libby's creation. The dinosaur was her request too.
Sweet Tooth #2
Ok...I'm not giving Libby ANYMORE cinnamon! She LOVES apples. So, for snack I thought I would be super nice and sprinkle some cinnamon on her apples. Yeah...all the cinnamon disappeared, but the apples are still there. So much for being kind.

Being a Mom...
Ok, I don't usually put things like this up here, nor do I usually watch this show, but after taking the time (FINALLY!) to watch it...I couldn't resist.
Sweet Tooth?
The other night at supper Libby decided that she "didn't like spaghetti anymore". So, Chris decided to test her with his cinnamon toast (yes, we slather the cinnamon on the bread...yummy!). Anyway, daddy asked her if she'd like some toast. She adamently said no. Of course! Then daddy said, "There's sugar on it." She immediately proceeded to take a bite...and then devour it. We never did get any spaghetti down her.

Check This Out!
Not sure where she got this silly face from, but she loves to make it now. She's been doing it for about half a week now. Silly goose!
Yard Work
Libby has been busy the past two days helping daddy with the yard work. He has been trimming bushes at our place and Libby wanted in on the action. She actually did a very good job with helping him. After it was all over she got a little antsy because she realized she hadn't had a chance to swing, but you'll have that.

I Fixed It!
For some reason our light wasn't working tonight. It wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that it's the ONLY light in our living room. Chris worked for about half an hour figuring out what was wrong and fixing the problem and when he got it fixed and back in position, Libby put her hands in the air and said, "Yea! I fixed it!"
I Want a Synonym
Tonight I was being goofy and singing a song. I said the word make and Chris told me it was build, not make. I laughed and said that it was the same thing since it was a synonym and Libby turned around and said, "I want an m&m!"

Mommy, I Loves You
Today was one of those days that I was just tired and NEEDED a nap. I told Libby that she WAS taking a nap...period. Yesterday, she didn't. She stayed in her room and I heard her talking some, but ignored it. I had to go to the bathroom so I went back and happened to catch just a glimpse...of Little Miss Libby's clothes VERTICAL on her bed. I did a double take just to make sure I was right and as I did, she was flat on her back. Immediately I heard, "Mommy, I loves you." Yeah, she knew she was in trouble. The problem? Yeah, I couldn't help but to laugh.

Doggy in Tummy
Libby was playing and talking about "sissy" drinking water. I thought to myself, "Oh my gosh! She's finally getting the concept that she is going to be a big sister." I told her that sissy couldn't drink water yet because she was still in mommy's tummy. (Just a note...NO, we don't know that it is a girl, I was just going with what Libby was saying.) Anyway, she came over to me and looked at my tummy and said, "Doggy in tummy?" I told her that it wasn't a doggy, it was a baby. She kept insisting that I had a doggy in my tummy until she finally lifted up my shirt, pointed to one of my stretch marks and said, "See? Doggy in tummy!" I sure hope not!

Found It!
Well, we found out I left the camera in the in-laws van. So, they kindly mailed it back to us (they WOULD like pictures of their granddaughter after all). So, here is our little muddy mess. I think this is probably the dirtiest she has EVER been. Boy did she have fun getting that dirty though. What a cutie...even when she's a dirty little girl!

First Day
Today Libby and I had our first day of "school". It only took 20 minutes to half an hour. I thought it would take a little longer. I think I'm glad it only took that long though. I didn't lose her attention this way. Besides...she's TWO! That's about ten minutes for each year! Perfect for now! We learned about cows...and that a baby cow is called a calf. We loped around the house and mooed like cows. And, Libby got her first chance to use rubber cement. It was a good day! Tomorrow we learn about the letter A. :)
Anne + Nancy = Antsy
Anne and Nancy are the two ladies we bought our land off of. The other day we decided to go out and just enjoy our property for awhile and Chris asked Libby if she wanted to go see Anne and Nancy. She said, "Yes, I want to see Antsy." This was before I got home. So when we were pulling in our driveway and Libby said, "Go see Antsy." I was utterly confused. I asked if she wanted to see Angie, and she said, "No! Antsy!" Then Chris explained.

Holy-lujah
So right now Libby's favorite video is "Holy Cow". (We figured out that the holy part comes from the song that says "holy, holy, holy", which she sings every time the song says it.) Anyway, I don't mind this video being her favorite because I enjoy music and I like when that music leads me to God...BUT that's not the point. Today as one of the songs was singing "hallelujah" she started singing "holy-lujah". It was so cute. I love hearing her learn new parts to songs. It's so sweet to hear my little girl singing "Jesus Loves Me" and other songs. I hope that she learns some day to enjoy those songs as not just songs but as conversation to our Lord. I pray for my little one daily.

Holy Cow
Libby has been asking to watch Holy Cow ever since we have come home. Neither Chris, nor I could figure out what in the world she was talking about. Well, tonight I was out of the house and Libby carried her Praise Baby dvd to Chris and said, "Watch Holy Cow!" So now we know what the holy cow is.
School Time
I was supposed to start schooling Libby today. I really was going to, but I just don't have everything around for it. I think, since I was in Ohio for two weeks, I will give myself one more week to get everything organized and THEN I will start. I suppose late is better than never and those are the joys of homeschooling. I CAN make starting a little later an option.
Luckily, a co-op JUST started here in Dubuque that is doing the same program that I intended on using. I will go ahead and join the group and catch up with everyone who DID start today over the fall break they have planned. I am excited about the prospects of the school year ahead with Libby. I can alread see her growing leaps and bounds in the educational arena and can only imagine what will happen with a little bit of direction.
Alexis Summer Reading Challenge
Well, I ALMOST did it. I managed to read 8 1/2 of the 10 books I wanted to read. The last 3 1/2 books were The Appomatox Series by Gilbert Morris. I love his historical fiction. I have enjoyed reading about the Rocklin family and plan to finish the entire series. I will admit that I enjoyed his Winslow series better though. The Winslow series travels through time from the Revolution on whereas The Appomatox series is all about the Civil War (which IS my favorite era) and different entitities of the Rocklin family. Some of the stuff just tends to be repetetive with staying in that tight of a time frame.
I guess I didn't quite make it, but I was glad that I took the challenge because I got more reading done this summer than I have in a few years. I love to read and I have missed the chance to read a good book. My only problem is that I tend to get obsessed and have to finish it within a day or two and I get NOTHING else done. Oh well! I'll pace myself and make sure to enjoy at least one to two books a month from now on.

Bittersweet
Well, here we are. Round (long) trip back to Iowa. This time with no house in Indiana to go back to (or pay for). We, officially, are not house owners for the moment. We loved our house and are going to miss it greatly. :( BUT...life must go on and now we are on to the next chapter of life...building. Yikes!
In other news, I had a good visit with my family and am glad to say that although it isn't over yet, my grandma's knee surgery went well and I watched her gain more and more mobility in the short time I was there. I think that with a little hard work and a LOT of patience, she will be a-ok. I am so glad that I had the availability to go and help out. It was truly my pleasure.
I also got to visit with many friends including a girl I hadn't seen since she got married four years ago. I got to meet her beautiful two month old as well. We also got to see some friends from church that I grew up with. It was a blessing to visit with this family as I have ALWAYS had such a GREAT respect for Melissa and Harry and they have definitely been role models to me in my marriage and my life. I had the opportunity to visit with my mamaw and aunt from up in Northern Ohio as well. I visited my grandma and grandpa's gravesite, which is something I have wanted to do for quite awhile, as well. It was a great trip! I will miss my family and Christmas seems a long way off.
With all of the good news, I have to have at least one piece of bad news. I can't find our digital camera ANYWHERE! I haven't been able to find it for about a month now. :( So, no pictures of Libby until I tear this house apart and find that silly thing. Anyway, I'll try to be better with my posts again now that I'm home. I've missed you all!
